FAQs

Why choose us?

Our commitment to safety is our defining trait. We don’t make a move unless it’s the right one. Garden State Skydiving doesn’t compromise safety for profit. When you book your skydive at Garden State Skydiving you become our partner in the process of making a great first skydive. We commit to prompt communication, transparent processes and a kick-a** time.

What happens if there’s bad weather on the day of my reservation?

Garden State Skydiving is a safety-first facility. Skydiving is a weather-dependent sport; skydiving is highly sensitive to wind, clouds, rain and other unforeseen weather anomalies. This sensitivity to weather can frequently cause skydiving operations to stop. If Garden State Skydiving is forced to stop jump operations for weather concerns we communicate these delays to customers immediately.

Weather-related delays can cause schedule disruptions throughout the rest of a day’s schedule. If this happens on the day of your scheduled skydive a Garden State Skydiving representative will contact you to place your reservation on ‘hold’ pending weather observation. This can sometimes result in rescheduling. Although inconvenient; rescheduling for weather-related issues is a safety-based decision that is not open to compromise. We’d rather inconvenience your schedule than put you in harm’s way.

We want to remind you not to let a “bad” forecast scare you away from booking. We watch the weather closely and forecasts change quickly in the summer months. What seems like poor weather on a general forecast website, may be great skydiving weather for the majority of the day. If you have questions about the weather, give us a call. We love talking about the weather!

What’s the cancellation policy?

To facilitate your skydiving experience Garden State Skydiving has to schedule instructors and pilots for the day of your jump. Because of this, we maintain a 72-hour cancellation policy. You may reschedule your skydive or receive a refund on your deposit for any reason as long as you give us 72-hour advance notice.

Customers cancelling their reservations within the 72-hour window will not receive a refund on their deposits.

What are the requirements to make a skydive?

Participants must be 18 years of age. Each person jumping must sign a waiver and assumption of risk agreement. A parent or guardian may NOT sign waivers for a minor.

Each jumper must provide a non-expired, government-issued photo-id that displays your date-of-birth. Passports, driver’s license, or other state or federally issued IDs are common examples. If you have questions about your ID give us a call.

How long should I plan to be at your facility?

We often tell people to plan on spending half of the day with us (4-5 hours). While the entire process should only take a few hours (2-3 hours), delays can occur. Fog over the airport in the morning, periods of clouds or wind or air-traffic-control flight delays can cause wait times to extend beyond the norm.

Skydiving is an aviation activity. Just as your air travel can be delayed or rescheduled when flying commercially, so too can your flight be delayed or rescheduled for skydiving.

Is there a weight limit?

Our general weight limit is 230 lbs for men, 215 lb for women, and each participant must be height/weight proportioned. If you are slightly more than the weight limit your instructor may approve you on a case-by-case basis. Our weight limits are based on total weight limitations of the skydiving equipment by Technical Standard Orders issued by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Can I bring my own camera on my skydive?

No personal cameras can be taken by the tandem passenger and your instructor cannot take a camera that you give to them. The United States Parachute Association requires a person operating a camera in freefall to have made 200 skydives. This rule also applies to tandem passengers.

If you would like video and photos of your skydive we offer a video package to document your experience.

What should I wear when making my skydive?

Jumpers should wear comfortable clothes such as athletic or workout attire. Close-toed shoes are a requirement; no sandals allowed. Boots that have open metal lace-hooks are also prohibited.

Sweaters, light jackets, or hoodies are good to have on hand for colder days.

Can my friends and family join me?

Everyone is welcome at Garden State Skydiving. We’ve got picnic tables and open space available to your group. You can bring shade tents, coolers and food for a picnic if you’d like.
